Cycleway

The ongoing Helensburgh-Dumbarton cycleway project, aimed at connecting the two towns for cyclists and pedestrians, remains an unresolved issue with three stages: Dumbarton to Cardross, Cardross to Moss Road Helensburgh, and Hermitage Academy to Helensburgh town centre.

The stretch from Moss Road to Morrison’s supermarket has been completed, but progress on the remaining sections is slow. Helensburgh Community Council (HCC) is actively engaged with Argyll & Bute Council, focusing on the stretch from Morrison’s supermarket to the town centre.

HCC remains committed to promoting cycling and walking initiatives and supports Cardross Community Council’s efforts to address their part of the project. Connecting the supermarket and Academy could encourage pupils and shoppers to embrace the cycleway, fostering environmental awareness and healthy living.
